Social Robots for Children with Cancer

Alongside my studies at the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU), I taught bachelor and master students in the use of virtual reality, when to use it, and how to get started. My method was to introduce the students to creating their own virtual 3D worlds as early in the process as possible, in order for the students to learn the practical means of working within game engine software.

Rapid prototyping

In order to get the students started on programming their virtual reality apps within the game engine software, I introduced them to voxel-based 3D modelling, creating an easy way for them to form and understand virtual worlds. This led to the students having physical models to interact with in virtual reality within an hour of starting development.

My main takeaway from the courses was that an intuitive hands-on approach with immediate results is an effective method for teaching others to get started with complicated technology.
