Cardboard Toys for Refugee Camps
In collaboration with UNICEF Denmark, I worked on a project aimed at helping children in refugee camps cope with the traumas of fleeing war zones, environmental disasters, and similar crises. Roleplaying with toys, according to UNICEF, is an excellent method to encourage children to open up about their experiences and serves as a therapeutic tool in these camps. However, essential resources like clean drinking water, food, and medicine are always prioritized, and due to the limited space in cardboard boxes, toys are often deprioritized.
To address this, I designed stencils that could be cut directly from the boxes by the children in the camps. This approach ensures that toys are as accessible as possible, providing an early means for children to process their traumas through play.
